Estherville – Funeral services of Rose Johnson, 98, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will be held at Armstrong Grove Cemetery in Armstrong. She died on Friday, April 16 at Valley Vue Care Center, Armstrong.

Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday and will last until the time of the service at the church.

Rose Mae Danielson, the daughter of Emery and Bertha (Gehrtz) Danielson was born March 14, 1906, near Armstrong.

She received her education in the Armstrong schools, graduating from Armstrong High School in 1925.

Rose then attended business college in Algona. She worked in a department store in Armstrong.

On May 6, 1926, she was united in marriage to Harold Johnson in Swea City.

After their marriage the couple lived in Titonka for fifteen years, where Rose worked in a Dry Good Store and Meat Market.

After World War II they lived in Alton until 1949 when they moved to Estherville.

Rose worked for Harmon’s Fashion Shop and later McCleary’s Department Store.

Harold died on August 11, 1991.

Rose has been a resident of the Valley Vue Care Center since March 2002.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Past President of Local Izaak Walton League and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Left to cherish Rose’s memory are her sisters, Alvena Cota and Florence Lutz; several nieces and nephews.

She has been preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 19, 2004)
