Betty J. Simo (nee Martincin), 83 of Sheffield Village, died unexpectedly on Monday, October 1, 2012 at her home.
Born February 20, 1929 in Lorain, she moved to Sheffield Village in 1957 where she had lived since.
Betty was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Sheffield Lake, and a former member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Lorain. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, playing the accordion, organ and piano. She also liked to tell jokes.
Surviving are her sons, David (Lee) Simo of Sheffield Lake, Donald (Karen) Simo of Vermilion, Charles (Debora) Simo of Sheffield Lake, and Michael (Lisa) Simo of Sheffield Village; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; brothers Richard Martincin of Sheffield Village, Eugene Martincin of Lorain, and Patrick Martincin of Chicago; a sister, Darlene Kajganich of Sheffield Village.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Charles E. Simo in 1981; parents, Joseph Martincin in 1959 and Sophie (nee Hoya) Martincin in 1953; brothers, Anthony Martincin and Joseph Martincin Jr.; sisters, Helen Bacha, Cecilia Farkas, Eleanor Butchko and Mildred Groboske.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3:00 – 5:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be Friday at 9:15 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 521 Harris Road, Sheffield Lake. Rev. Fr. Stephen Shields, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
