Mrs. Lyon Dies; Rites Held Here
Mrs. Beatrice McLeod Lyon, wife of former Indianola Mayor Gordon L. Lyon, died at the South Sunflower County Hospital late Thursday after a long illness. She was 69. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church Saturday morning at 10:00 with the Rev. E. Allen Bailey of Grenada and the Rev. Wiliam E. Harrison officating. Burial was in the Indianola Cemetery with Coleman Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Lyon was a lifelong resident of Indianola. She was a charter .member of the Indianola Garden Club, a charter member and officer in the David Holmes Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, and at one time was active in the work of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She leaves her husband; two grandchildren, Rupert Lyon, Jr., and Lee Lyon; a brother, William McLeod of Houston, Texas; and a sister, Mrs.-W. W. McGraw of Pascagoula.
