Former Chief of Police Succumbs in Arizona
Funeral services were held Sunday at the Merryman Funeral home in Phoenix, Arizona for Hugh H Flint, 80, a former resident of Decatur county who died there Friday.
While a resident of Decatur county, he and his wife, the former Lucy Hamilton, for a number of years occupied the Robert A Hamilton homestead, known as Auburn Hill. For several years he served as chief of police here.
Regarded as a farmer of unusual knowledge and a fine judge of livestock, Mr Flint, while on the Hamilton farm, accepted the position as manager of the large agricultural interests of the Madison State hospital where he served several years.
Survivors include the daughter, Mrs Christina F Small and a granddaughter, Patricia Ann Small, of Phoenix; several brothers and one sister. His wife preceded him in death several years ago.
Born near Versailles on June 4, 1867 Mr Flint came to this community as a young man and spent the greater part of his life here until he left about fifteen years ago. His wife was a native of this county.
Interment of the ashes will take place here in South Park cemetery.
