Sammy served as a Private First Class, 179th Infantry, 45th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.
He resided in Baltimore, Maryland prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army on March 27, 1943 at Fort Thomas, Newport, Kentucky. He was noted as being employed in laundering and also as Single, with dependents.
Sammy was "Killed In Action" during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Sadly, when they created his headstone his burial card was misread and the "MD" (Maryland) was mistaken for "MO" (Missouri). His headstone should show "Maryland".
