Daniel Peters Ward was the son of Albert and Sarah Peters Ward. He graduated from Waverly High School and received an athletic scholarship to Coe College.
He was married to Ruth Leonore Schaefer on June 26, 1932 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They had no children. During WWII he served with the Seabees in the Pacific.
He worked for Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids for over 20 years. They moved to Grinnell in 1976.
