John Lyon was a native of County Fermanagh, Ireland, and came to the Province of Pennsylvania in 1763. He settled in that area which today is Milford Township, Juniata County. With him to Pennsylvania came the 3 sons of his brother, James, who remained in Ireland. "John Lyon died in 1780 and was buried in the graveyard of the Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, Juniata County, which he founded in 1773. JOHN LYON, with his family, emigrated from Knniskillen, county Fermanagh, Province of Ulster, Ireland, to the Province of Pennsylvania, in the year 1753, and settled in Camberland county, now Milford township, Juniata county, about 2 miles west of Mifflintown. The warrant for his tract of land, 273 acres and 63 perches, is dated September 18,1766. In 1773, the Proprietaries grant to John Lyon et. al 20 acres of land for the use of the Presbyterian church of Tuscarora, where he is buried.
