James D. Peter of Blair, 29, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, from complications due to cancer.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Calhoun.
A memorial wake will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home.
James D. Peter was born August 14, 1969, in Carroll, Iowa.
He graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in Carroll, Iowa in 1987. He then joined the military, serving eight years in the Navy, including time in the Gulf War.
He met his wife Laura, in Washington and they were married March 5, 1994, and moved to Blair in 1996.
Jim worked for OPPD in nuclear operations.
He was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, and in his free time enjoyed playing basketball and softball and loved camping and hiking with his family.
He is survived by his wife; two children, Riley, 3, and Emly, 1; his parents, Robert and Jane Peter of Dedham, Iowa; brothers and sisters in law, John and Stacey Peter and Mike and Annie Peter; sisters and brothers in law, Mary Jo and Dan Potkanak, Michelle and Jeff Shirbroun, and Doris and Jaime Wurr, all of Iowa; mother and father in law, Sue and Ken Burgar of Poulsbo, Washington; and many nieces and nephews.
Campbell-Aman Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
