Monroe B. McCalmont, a resident of Austin for most of his life, was born May 18, 1937, and died Wednesday, August 28, 1996.
He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #520.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Berry; mother Ida Berry McCalmont; and step-father, Gene McCalmont
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Colonial Chapel at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, Lamar location, with Ralph McCalmont officiating. Interment will be at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Schiller, Wesley Roach, Leroy Smith, Ernest Becker, Jimmy Cline and Marvin Schroeder. Honorary pallbearers will be members of I. B. E. W. #520.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jennings McCalmont; son, Darryl McCalmont and wife Michelle of Austin; daughter Rhonda McCalmont of Las Vegas, Nevada; son, Terrence McCalmont of Bridgetown, New Jersey; step-children, Ron Jennings of Austin, Randy Jennings and wife Jill of Katy, Texas, Rene Romell and husband Marty of Laguna Hills, California; brothers Ralph McCalmont and wife Susan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Gene McCalmont and wife Beverly of Richland Hills, Texas; ten grandchildren; two nieces; three nephews; aunts; cousins; special mother-in-law, Louise Jennings; and his very best little friend, his dog, Yogi.
Memorial contributions may be made to one's favorite charity.
