John Smith died Sunday morning
at his home near Cairo from malaria
fever and heart trouble. Mr. Smith
was born on the farm where he died
on February 24, 1847. The deceased
was well known throughout the
county and was a member of the
Cairo M. E. church, and the Brook-
ston Lodge F. and A. M. A widow,
formerly Miss Jane Minnear, and
two sons, Frank and Guilford Smith,
survive. He also leaves one brother
Joseph Smith, who resides in Idaho.
The funeral was conducted from the
Liberty Chapel Wednesday morning
at 10 o'clock, Rev. C. B. Smith, pas-
ter of the Battle Ground M. E. church
officiated, and the interment was in
t h e Cairo cemetery.
