Clifford Smith Rites
To Be Held Friday At
Liberty Chapel Church
-MONTICELLO, March 27—Clifford
M. Smith, age 66, residing on
Lafayette, R. R. 2, five miles
southwest of Brookston, passed
away Wednesday at his home following
an illness since June with
a heart ailment.
Born March 7, 1886, at Vandalia,
Ill., he was married to Mary Louise
Hengst, October 7, 1933, at Lafayette.
He was a farmer and farmed
in the Liberty Chapel community
for the past ten years. He went
there from South Bend where he
was emnloyed by the Studebaker
Corporation and was also a part
time employee of the Ladoga Canning
Co. at Brookston. The deceased
was a member of the Liberty
Chapel E.U.B. Church.
Surviving are the wife; and six
children; Charles M. of South
Bend; Joann, Carol, Janet, Mary
Jane and Billy Clifford, all at
Home; a brother Clem Smith, of
Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. 0. H.
Key of Greencastle, and Mrs. E.
R. Kile, of Cleveland, Ohio also;
and two grandchildren.
The body is at the Thompson
Funeral Home at Brookston where
friends may call after 2 o'clock
Thursday. Funeral services will be
held at Liberty Chapel Church at
2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. E. F.
Highley officiating. Burial will be
In Cairo cemetery.
