Nancy Elizabeth McKell, daughter of David McKell and the former Miss Elizabeth Jean Nason, was born on the 7th of November 1841 in Starkville, Mississippi. Her parents were charter members of Starkville Associate Reformed Presbyterian church. They had emigrated with other members of their family from Little River in Fairfield County, South Carolina in 1838.

Known as Nannie by her family and friends, she married a young A.R.P. minister, Samuel Andrew Agnew, on the 21st day of April 1864. Rev. Samuel Agnew was the pastor of the Old Bethany A.R.P. Church in Baldwyn, Lee County, Mississippi. Nannie and Samuel had two sons, Enoch David (name for his two grandfathers) and John Calvin (named for the famed Protestant reformer).

Sadly, Nannie Elizabeth McKell Agnew died on the 24th of July 1868, while visiting her mother in Starkville at the young age of 26 years old. Nannie was buried in Starkville A.R.P. cemetery near her father.
