Elbert Dewane Hansen, 82, passed away November 8, 1997 in Richfield, Utah.

He was born October 10, 1915 in Richfield to Hans James and Sarah Christensen Hansen. He married Donna Spafford, July 25, 1937 in Payson, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, June 17, 1938.He served in the 10th Mountain Infantry in Italy during World War II. A member of the V.F.W. He was a salesman with Richfield Auto Parts for 43 years. He was a longtime member of the Richfield Lions Club and served in many capacities.

He was an active member of the LDS Church where he has served as ward clerk, counselor in the Annabella Ward Sunday School presidency, Sevier Stake Missionary and counselor in Sevier Stake Mission, Richfield 3rd Ward Bishops Counselor, Counselor in Yoomeenchoopeets Indian Branch. Staff worker at the Richfield Genealogical Library since 1980 and genealogy instructor in the Richfield 8th Ward. He and Donna served a 24 month genealogy mission to the Medieval Files in Salt Lake City. Elbert loved to garden, he enjoyed sports and has a great love for his family.

He is survived by his wife, Donna of Richfield; children, Emalee (Calvin) Curtis of Monroe, James E. (Randi) Hansen of Lanesville, Indiana, Sue Ann (Neil) Curtis of Murray, Donna Louese (John) Downing of Boulder, CO., John David (Willa) Hansen of Colorado Springs, CO and Mary Carole (Kim) Blackburn of Richfield; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; son, Carl James Hansen; grandson, Christopher Kim Blackburn; great-granddaughter, Kylie Curtis; brothers and sisters, Ted Hansen, Orvil Hansen, Mildred Edwards, LaVonda Christensen, Ireta Wescott, Lou Sarah Hansen, Don Lamar Hansen, Norman Hansen.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 1997 at 11 a.m. in the Richfield 8th LDS Ward Chapel, 200 East Center. Friends may call at the Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and again at the Mortuary Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery with Military Rites by the V.F.W. Sevier Post #5050.
