Carolyn Schronce Smith, 72 of Vale, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013 at her residence.
Born July 20, 1940 in Lincoln County to the late Jesse R. Scronce and Zora Lee Clark Schronce. Carolyn was a lifelong member of Reepsville Baptist Church, a Sunday school teacher, nursery worker, and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was retired from the Department of Social Services.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Kate Whiteside, Debra Schronce and Mary Lee Schronce.

Survivors Include:
Husband of 49 years: James Smith of the home

Sons: Shawn Smith and wife Gail of Lincolnton
Bobby Smith of Lincolnton
Billy Smith of Lincolnton
Dale Turnmire of Lincolnton
Daughter: Pam Smith of Lincolnton
Brother: Cecil Schronce of Catawba
Sister: Helen Anthony of Lincolnton
Grandchildren: Ethan Smith, Caleb Smith, Addison Smith, Jamie Martin, Deeanna Smith, Jacob Smith, Haven Smith
Great-Grandchild: Jamison Paul Martin
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at Reepsville Baptist Church in Vale. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Hull, Rev. Carroll Anthony and Rev. Paul Schronce will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at Reepsville Baptist Church in Vale. Pallbearers are Paul Schronce, Carroll Anthony, Ethan Smith, Caleb Smith, Joshua Scott, Mark Turner and Daniel Bost.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 107 North Cedar Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092 and Reepsville Baptist Church, 1513 Alf Hoover Rd. Vale, NC 28168
