He was elected to the ministry at Cherry Grove, IL in 1871. He lived for 5 years in McPherson, Kansas and for 5 years he was superintendent of the Old Folks' Home at Mt. Morris, IL, he being the first superintendent of that institution. he was a minister and elder in the Church of the Brethren. his wife was the daughter of Abraham Miller of Washington Co., MD. where she probably was born."
