LAURENS — Nicole Prescott, 18, attained peace Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, after a lengthy battle with Osteosarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer.
Nicole graduated from Laurens Central School in June, was accepted at Boston University and was to attend the State University at Albany in the fall. She was undecided on a major but wanted to "help people and give something back" to the community that supported her during her battle.
Prior to her illness Nicole was a very talented forward as co-captain of the varsity soccer team. She never lost her love for soccer. She was also a very determined point guard in varsity basketball and a fast little sprinter on the varsity track team.
Nicole was blessed with a gift for music as an accomplished trumpet and French horn player.
She was very active in school and community activities. It was through this that Nicole met and touched so many hearts. She had a sweet soul and a sweeter smile.
Nicole was a member of Mount Vision United Methodist Church.
Nicole is survived and deeply loved by her parents, Brian and Anne; her loving brothers, Devin and Jon and his soulmate Coryn of Virginia; her grandparents, Madeline and Charles Prescott; several relatives; her dog, Luke; and many friends.
