E. Clair Alford, 78, of 7235 N. Vincent Ave., a retired mapping and evaluation engineer of Portland General Electric Co., died Sunday at his home. He worked for PGE 41 years, from 1914 through 1955 when retired.
He was a native of Portland, a 50-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Engineers of Portland, a life member of Mt. Tabor Lodge 42, AF&AM, a charter member of American Legion Post No. 1, Portland, and served in World War I with the 37th Engineers.
Survivors include his wife, Pearle; two sons, Clair W. Alford of Lake Oswego and Verne E. Alford of Troutdale; two sisters, Mrs. Loren K. Gear of Lake Oswego and Mrs. Oscar Larson of Salem; a brother, G.D. Alford of Hollywood, Calif., seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Private funeral services were held Tuesday. Cremation followed with the Killingsworth Little Chapel of the Chimes in charge of arrangements.
