A service of celebration honoring the life of Anne Marie Barrow, 87, of Longview will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Greggton United Methodist Church in Longview with Rev. Ricky Ricks officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday evening from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Barrow went to be with the Lord on the evening of July 10, 2013 in a local care center. Anne was born October 20, 1925 in Bear Creek, a small community near Linden, TX to Annie and Mabern Humphrey. She graduated from Cunninghan High School in 1942 and completed her BS degree in Music Education from East Texas State Teachers College in 1945. One Sunday evening while visiting her parents in Harleton, the young pastor at the Methodist church asked for an accompanist for the evening service. Anne offered to help out. This was the beginning of her life journey as helpmate to Emmitt Barrow. They married on October 23, 1945 and she and Emmitt moved to his first Navy Chaplain assignment at the naval hospital in Norman Oklahoma. After the war, Anne and Emmitt served together in many churches in the Texas Annual Conference. Anne truly found her calling as the wife of a Methodist minister. She was active in every area of church life, including the music ministry, visitation, women's groups and adult Sunday school classes. Her winning smile and genuine interest in every person she met endeared her to everyone. Besides her activities as a minister's wife, Anne's role as loving mother to her three children was a top priority in her life. She enjoyed supporting all of their activities through the years and served on countless P.T.A. boards, band boosters, helping with scouting programs and sporting events. Anne received her greatest joy in giving selflessly to her family and taught them how to love others by example. Anne has been involved in the United Methodist Women and has been a member of the FN Chapter of P.E.O. She has participated in music clubs and other service organizations throughout the years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years; her infant son Dennis; and her brother Mabern Humphrey, Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Debbie Barrow of Longview; her sons Don Barrow of Dallas, and David Barrow and his wife Kathryn of Plano; her wonderful grandchildren Veronica Bandy and husband Tim of Minneapolis, John Barrow of Plano, and Melanie Anne Palmer and husband Brent of Point Blank, Texas. Added joys are her five great grandchildren Kimberly, Matthew and Joshua Bandy of Minneapolis, and Austin and Bailey Anne Palmer of Point Blank. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Eleanor Jo Smith of Austin and Ruth Humphrey of College Station, plus numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family appreciates all the wonderful medical care and loving support of Dr. Rick Earnest and staff, Care Team Hospice, the staff at Margaret's House and at local assisted living facilities, as well as neighbors, friends, and church members. Heartfelt thanks go to special caregivers Shirley Liddell, Tricia Dickson and Vanessa Randle. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greggton United Methodist Church, 1101 Pine Tree Road, Longview, Texas 75604 or the Alzheimer's Association, 3613 S. Broadway, Tyler Texas 75701. - See more at: http://www.raderfh.com/obituary/Anne-Marie-Barrow/Longview-TX/1224374#sthash.h27LSJPT.dpuf
