Arnoldus Te Stroete was the son of Hendrik te Stroete (b. 25 Jan 1767; d. 09 Apr 1845) & Hendrika Halderdijk/Haank/Haanlo (depending upon the source) (b. 28 Jan 1783; d. 04 Nov 1845).

He immigrated to the United States with his brother Lammert Te Stroete & Lammert's wife Janna nee Dulmes; also a "Berend" Te Stroete (whose Christian name does not correspond with any known brothers of the Te Stroete's. However Berend's age corresponds with a brother recorded as "Hermanus" in old world Dutch records.) They arrived in the port of New York on 28 Sep 1847 on the ship "Katherine Jackson". Arnoldus, Lammert & Lammert's wife Janna continued on to Holland Township, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin where their brother Garrit Jan Te Stroote had taken-up residence after immigrating a year earlier. (Berend has not been accounted for at this time.)

It is recorded that Arnoldus Te Stroete purchased the N.W. 1/4 and the N. 1/2, S.W. 1/4, N.W. 1/4 of section 7, Township 13, Range 23 East from Dirk Jan Haartmann in September 1852 for $1. He sold one parcel of this purchase to Christian Snoeyenbosch in May of 1853 for $180: the N.W. 1/4 of N.W. 1/4 section 7, Township 13, R. 23 East -- which was located along the Sauk Trail Road in what became known as East Oostburg (after 1872 when what is now Oostburg began to grow around the then new railroad depot). In November of 1854 Arnoldus sold, for $310, the remaining land: the N. 1/2, S.W. 1/4, N.W. 1/4 section 7, Township 13, Range 23 to Jan William ten Hulzen -- property south of the parcel Arnoldus sold to Snoeyenbosch the year before. The Holland Township, Sheboygan County Plat Map of 1862 clearly lists Snoeyenbosch & ten Hulzen as the owners of these parcels.

In April of 1855 Arnoldus purchased the S. 1/2, S.E. 1/4 section 31, Township 14, Range 23 East from Evert Hartman for $175. In May of 1858 he purchased the S.E. corner of N.E. 1/4, S.W. 1/4, section 31, Township 14, Range 23 East for $70 from Pieter & Cornelia Verhagen. These 2 parcels of land are attributed to "A. Strude" on the Wilson Township, Sheboygan County Plat Map of 1862.

In September of 1859 "Nol Strute" & Evert Hartman would jointly purchase, for $270 in the city of Sheboygan, Lot 1, B. 258 from Warren & Eunice Smith. Purpose & use of this property is unknown. After studying an old plat map of the city of Sheboygan it appears that they bought property somewhere on the block between 11th & 12th Streets and Kentucky & Indiana Avenue.

In the 1860 U.S. Census Arnoldus, or "Nols" is recorded as living on the land in Wilson Township, Sheboygan County with his brother Garrit Jan (actually recorded as "Charles" J.) and Garrit's wife Johanna with their children Aleada, Dinah, & Albert. Both Arnoldus "Strute" & his brother Garrit "Strute" are farmers.

In 1861 Arnoldus married Louise Elizabeth Heiden. She was quite a bit younger than he was, as her birthdate was 15 Aug 1844. They were the parents of three children: Albert (b. 09 Nov 1863), Caroline Henriette (b. 01 Jun 1864), and Hendrika (b. 03 Mar 1865).

Arnoldus died 26 Sep 1865, per a legal notice in the 18 Nov 1865 Evergreen City Times -- cause unknown at this time. He is buried in what must have been the extended Te Stroete family plot, as his brothers Lammert & Garrit Jan and their wives are also buried in the immediate area. His young widow would marry Friedrick Grasse on 05 Jan 1866 and eventually provide Arnoldus' three children with 10 other half-siblings. Friedrick Grasse would purchase the "Strude" property.

Arnoldus' three children used the corrupted spelling "Stroota" for their surname.
