John Gordon Creel, son of John Stephen Creel and the former Miss Mary Teru Stewart, was born on February 2, 1924 in Doraville, Georgia. He graduated from Chamblee High School, Chamblee, GA and Erskine College, Due West, South Carolina. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a rural letter carrier in Doraville, Georgia for 33 years. He was a life long member of Peachtree Corners Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church (formerly Doraville ARP) where he served as treasurer and an elder. He was an active member of the Hazel Long Sunday School Class, North Georgia Men's Association, and Keenagers.
John Creel was a dedicated member of the Erskine College Alumni Association. He was known by friends and family as an avid gardener, a biblical scholar, and faithful prayer warrior. John will also be remembered for his remarkable knowledge of family history and community events.
John Creel departed his earthly life on June 15th 2012 at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita [Burke] Creel, his parents John Stephen Creel and Teru [Stewart] Creel, and brothers Stewart Martin Creel and Ellis Moffett Creel. He is survived by two daughters, a brother, a sister, several grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
