He was born in Winooski on Aug. 15, 1929, to Josephat and Alice (Dupont) Cote.
John married Rita L. Boutin on May 5, 1956; she passed away in 2005.
He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War.
John owned John's Barber Shop and barbered at all the local nursing homes.
John was a band leader and square dance caller with multiple bands.
He was a member of countless clubs and organizations in the area.
He volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America and various other organizations. He enjoyed bus trips with seniors, dancing, pool, bowling, ping-pong, westerns and chocolate.
He was predeceased by wife, Rita; seven brothers; and step-son, Peter Godfrey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, at St. Mark's Parish, Burlington.
Interment to follow at New Mount Calvary Cemetery, Burlington.
