Joyce A. Fitch, 68

Joyce A. Fitch, 68, of Blair, died Jan. 8, 2007, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Joyce A. Fitch was born Feb. 15, 1938, in Albany, Ga., to Wallace G. and Gladys V. (Gilliam) Fitch. She grew up in the Herman and Blair area and attended school there. Throughout her childhood, she moved around with her family, and spent time in California and New Mexico, but she eventually moved back to Nebraska.

She had many life experiences and in November of 1966, she met Mardy Hubbard at the Open Door Mission in Omaha, and also met her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and her life was changed forever.

Hubbard opened her home to Joyce for what she thought would be a brief period, but Mardy became an "honorary mother" to her for the next 40 years. Together, they served the Lord at the Mission in various ministries for a number of years. In 1983, they moved together to the Landmark Inn in Blair, where they lived for years with Joyce's sister and brother-in-law, Tootie and Pete Sorensen.

During her years in Blair, Joyce attended the Assembly of God Church. Over the past five years, she spent a lot of time caring for her sister during her illness, and ministering to family and friends.

She loved people and would do anything she could to help anyone she could. She dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family and friends, and to bringing the message of God's love and plan of salvation to everyone she met. She led many of her family members and friends to the Lord, and she gave her life to prayer. She will be remembered for her gentle and meek spirit, her happy personality, and for the joy of the Lord that radiated from her smile.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and John Tull of Blair; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Bernard "Daty" Fitch of Blair; brother-in-law, Milton Sorensen, also of Blair; sister-in-law, Judy Fitch of Halstead, Kan.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her honorary mother, Mardy Hubbard; brother, Rodger Fitch, and sister, Kathryn "Tootie" Sorensen.
