Glen Albert Reed, age 85, formerly of Bay Port,Michigan, passed away Friday, December 9, 2011 at Tidewell Hospice in Sarasota, Florida.
Glen was born March 11, 1926 in De Witt, Arkansas, the son of the late Roy Sr. and Winifred (Keaton)"Winnie" Reed. Glen enlisted in the US Navy during World War II and served briefly with the amphibious forces before being discharged for health reasons. His family moved from Arkansas to Huron County after World War II.
He was employed by the Huron County Road Commission (Pigeon Division) as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1988. In 2010 he moved to Florida to be near his son. Glen was a gentle man with a big heart, loved by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He spent his life helping others; faithful to God and to his family.
He is survived by his son, Todd of Venice, Florida; grandchildren, John and Tara Reed; great-granddaughter Willow Reed; and two brothers, Roy of Bay Port, Michigan and Orville of Kissimmie, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Beth Ann in 1969.
Urn burial was at the New Bay Port Cemetery. No public services will be conducted.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville.
