Early Life: Don was one of eight children.

Life's Work/Service/Interests: Don and Thora moved to New York City in 1951, after marrying the year before, allowing Don to study art at the National Academy of Art, the Art Students League, and the Salamagundi Club. Years later, he studied at the Porte Royale in Paris, France. In his 60 year career as a fine artist, he has sold more than 10,000 paintings thereby improving the lives of thousands. One art critic suggested that, "...a desire to bring beauty and happiness into the world impels Mr. Allan to paint such beautiful paintings..." Don was one of the kindest, most humble individuals, sharing his love with everyone whose lives he touched. His creative problem solving skills and thorough guidance in all matters, were among his most outstanding talents. Donald Ferris Allan passed away on July 10, 2013 in Payson, Utah at the age of 86.
Religion/Associations: Along with his artistic talents, Don and Thora served the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New York City with great enthusiasm and effectiveness. In the Manhattan Ward, they were among the most beloved and cherished members, offering their love to hundreds of New Yorkers.
Awards/Accolades: He was awarded numerous prizes and medals for his painting in various art shows and competitions including the 1978 Bronze Medal from the National Academy of Art in New York City.

Survived By: Six children: Don Allan, Robert Allan, Karen Allan Foote, John Allan, Mary Allan Silvera, and Debbie Bacon Hoffheins); one sister, Lenore Allan Brinkerhoff; one brother, LaVerl Allan; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Preceded In Death By: His loving wife, Thora; his parents; 4 brothers and 1 sister.
