sister of Joseph Goldstein (1877-1930) of Baltimore.
There is much confusion about her last name. Her brother Joseph, the first of the family to arrive in the U.S., used the name Goldstein. Mary's married name was Nusinoff, but when she and her children immigrated to the U.S. they, too, used the name Goldstein. On her son Rubin's marriage certificate (New York, 1906), he gives his mother's maiden name as Miriam Halperin, indicating that Goldstein may not been the original surname of Mary or her brother Joseph.
