MT. PULASKI, IL - Donald Beckers, 86, formerly of Washington, Ill., passed away at 8:25 p.m. on July 8, 2013, at Vonderlieth Living Center.
Donald was born Jan. 1, 1927, in Mt. Pulaski, son of George F. and Hazel B. Potter Beckers.
Donald served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired from Caterpillar following 37 years of service as a research project coordinator. Donald was a member of the Mt. Pulaski Methodist Church.
Donald is survived by his sisters, Hazel J. (Ralph) Raber and Joan (John) Stahly; seven nieces and nephews and a number of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Roy Beckers and his beloved dog, "Tubby".
Services for Donald will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, in Mt. Pulaski. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Pulaski Cemetery, where full military rites will be accorded by the Mt. Pulaski American Legion Post #447.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vonderlieth Living Center in Mt. Pulaski.
