His most noted moment was a flub in the 1941 World Series against the New York Yankees. As the Brooklyn Dodgers catcher, he dropped a third strike in a 4-3 lead in Game 4 which would have ended the game. The baserunner went on to score and the Dodgers lost the game and eventually the series.
