Graveside services were Tuesday, September 12 at the Blair Cemetery for Katherine M. Brown, 85 who died of respiratory failure September 10, 1995 at Clarkson Hospital.

She was the last surviving child of Frederick and Louisa Woltje.

Frederick and Louisa Woltje moved their family of six children from Kansas to Blair early this century. The family home was located one lot north of the United Church of Christ, near 16th and Colfax. Shortly after her father's death in 1959 the house was demolished. While in his 80s, her father made news in the Blair area by experimenting with the growth of innovative grasses on his property.

She was a homemaker and a life- long member of Kountze Memorial Lutheran church in Omaha.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Rosa, Emma and Nellie and two brothers, Eddie and James.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Caryl; a son, Richard D. and a granddaughter, Amber Lin Brown, all of Omaha.

Memorials may be sent to Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church. Crosyv Kugold Burket Swanson-Golden Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
