Mrs. Anna Balster

Mrs. John Balster, a mother of Mr. Wm. Tick of this city, died at the home of the latter last Tuesday evening and was buried Thursday, services being conducted by Rev. Lamprecht of the German church.

She was nearly 77 years old and had been in failing health for several years.

Deceased was born in Germany and was married to John Balster, coming to DeSoto in 1878 and then to Blair.

She is survived by Fred of California, Mrs. Fick of this city, also four grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Win. Kick's mother, Mrs. John Balster, died at her home last evening, of kidney trouble, aged 76 years and 10 months. She had been gradually in failing for the past two years but her illness didn't become serious until last Sunday.

The funeral will be held at the house at 3:30 tomorrow, Thursday. Miss Anna Giese was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, March 7th, 1836, was married there to John Balster.

They came to DeSoto in 1878 and later to Blair, where he ran a meat market for many years. His death occurred 11 years ago.

Mrs. Kick and Fred Bolster, of Van Nuys, Calif., are the only living children. Another son, John, died at Chalco, Neb., about fifteen years ago, and Mrs. Maggie Petersen died near Plattsmouth only last July.

She was a member of the German Lutheran church and the funeral will be conducted by the pastor, by Rev. Lamprecht.
