Elmer A. "Bud" Shockey Sr., of Blue Ridge Summit and most recently of Chambersburg, departed this life July 11, 2005.

He was a son of the late Christian D. and Audra E. Freeman Shockey.

Mr. Shockey attended Washington Township High School.

He served with the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater.

He worked for Jack Davis in the Army Surplus Store, in Blue Ridge Summit, and then drove a truck for Appalachian Nursery in Waynesboro. Mr. Shockey then worked as a car crusher for Wayne Junkyard, and then as a security guard at TAB Books, Blue Ridge Summit.

Mr. Shockey was a member of the Apostolic Church of Greenstone, Fountaindale; the Emmitsburg VFW Post 6658, in MD; the Amvets Post 172, Fairfield; the Cascade American Legion Post 239, Cascade, MD, and the Adams County Fire Police Association. He was a life member of the Blue Ridge Sportsman Association, the Fountaindale Volunteer Fire Department and the Adams County Fish and Game Association.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louella June Smith Shockey, who departed this life November 15, 1995, and is survived by three daughters, June E. Tressler, Peggy A. Martin and Doris J. Avey, all of Waynesboro; four sons, Elmer A. "Bud" Shockey Jr., David E. Shockey and John M. Shockey, all of Fairfield, and Lester L. Shockey, of Blue Ridge Summit; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary E. Harshman of Slanesville, WV and C. Irene Taylor of Indiana; two brothers, Jacob A. Shockey of Blue Ridge Summit and Bert Shockey of Greencastle, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Interment, with military honors, was provided by the Honor Guard of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 in Chambersburg, was in Bethel Church Cemetery, Maryland.
