Frank Brooks Succumbs To Attack of Pneumonia

William Franklin Brooks, age seventy-five years, an old-time resident of Blair and Washington County, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. R. Beales, on Friday, January 18, 1918, from an attack of pneumonia of the bronchial tubes. Mr. Brooks was born March 3, 1843, at Battle Creek, Mich., and came to Nebraska in 1866, living at Ft. Calhoun for fifteen years. He served as chief of police and night police in Blair through ten different city administrations and was one of the best police officers Blair ever had.

He was married June 14, 1884, to Miss Elizabeth Thompson, and to this union one daughter, Mrs. A. R. Beales, was born. He leaves to mourn his demise his widow, and daughter, and two sisters, Mrs. M. E. Hazlett and Mrs. F. E. Scott, both residing in Lincoln, Nebr.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. A. E. Marsh from the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Beales at 1:30 p.m. on January 20, and the remains were laid to rest in the Blair Cemetery.

It appears that William Frank Brooks first wed the widow of Thomas Frazier (b KY - d 9-6-1870). Thomas Frazier (18175462) and Nancy J. (b ca 1835, KY) had a daughter, Mary Frazier (18175461, 12/18/1857 in Iowa-1-31-81 in Ft Calhoun). William and Nancy later divorced and he married to Elizabeth Thompson. William Frank and Nancy had two daughters; Jennie Dell and Addie R (also says Lucy Ann), and then William and Elizabeth later had a daughter, Ruie. Owned a second hand store in Blair for many years. Died N of Blair.
