Ruth Wiist Tammen, 94, of Dean, died on Friday, July 5, 2013.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home with Pastor John Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

A daughter of the late Elizabeth (Hoerth) and Jacob Wiist, Ruth was born on June 26, 1919, in Hurnville, Texas. On April 23, 1938, Ruth and David George Tammen were married in Vernon, Texas. She was a lifelong resident of Clay County, former member of the Dean Riding Club and of the Dean Community Center. Ruth was a homemaker.

Ruth was also preceded in death by her husband, David George Tammen on December 2, 1968. She is survived by a son, Jerry Tammen and wife, Debbie of Eatonton, GA and a daughter, Carolyn Askew of Dean; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013, at the funeral home.
