Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock last Thursday afternoon at the Baptist church for George H. Kelling, 71, who died the previous Tuesday morning following a short illness at his home southeast of Renwick. Rev R. E. Cook preached the sermon. Burial was made in the Goldfield cemetery with the local Masonic lodge having charge of the graveside service.

George H. Kelling was born January 24, 1870, in a log cabin on the old John Kelling homestead east of the Boone river in Liberty township, Wright county, and passed away August 19, 1941, at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 25 days, at his farm home one-half mile south of his birthplace where he has resided since 1896 when he was united in marriage to Christina Miller.

Mr. and Mrs. Kelling were the parents of nine children, Carl and James of Renwick, Andy of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Grace Hanson of Renwick, Mrs. Ethel Steele of Wheatland, Roy at home, Floyd of Belmond, Verle who preceded his father in death, and Lucy of Mason City.

Deceased is survived by his wife, eight children and win grandchildren; also two sisters, Mrs. Cora Hoffman of Renwick and Mrs. Kate Okey of Los Angeles, Calif., and many other relatives.

He was a member and a Past Master of the local Masonic lodge. He served as a township trustee in Wright county for 12 years and was a director of the Farmers Co-operative elevator of Renwick for a number of years.

George H. Kelling, 71, died Tuesday morning at 7 o’clock of a cerebral hemorrhage at his home southeast of Renwick. He had been in failing health for some time but was critically ill only a short time.
He is survived by his wife and eight children, Carl, James and Roy of Renwick, Floyd of Belmond, Andrew of Kansas City, Kans., Mrs. Guy Hanson of Renwick, Mrs. G. L. Steele of Wheatland and Lucy of Mason City. There are nine grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. August Hoffman of Renwick and Mrs. Kate Oakey of Los Angeles, Calif.
One son, Verle, two brothers, J. G. Kelling and James Kelling, and three sisters, Mrs. Otto Block, Mrs. Peter Clausen and Mrs. Chas. Schipull, preceded him in death.
Mr. Kelling had been a resident of this community all his life and was a good friend of all his acquaintances. Funeral services are being held this Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Baptist church. Burial will be made in the Goldfield cemetery.
