Dennis Thomas Keck, age 61, of Knapp, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at his home in the Town of Cady.

Dennis was born March 6, 1941, in Downing to Sailes and Mabel (Orfgen) Keck. He was a member of the Wilson Lutheran Church for the last several years.

Dennis attended school in Glenwood City. Dennis served in the U.S. Army for a number of years. On Dec. 14, 1968, he married Karen Nygaard at the Downing Methodist Church.

He worked for the Knapp Creamery for a few years, then entered the service. After returning from the service, he again worked for the Knapp Creamery for a while. Later he went to work for George W. Olson Construction out of Stillwater, MN, and was presently employed at the Coachman Supper Club. He was an avid collector of the Boyd's Bears "Dollstone Collection," was a Watkins distributor, and cake decorator.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Gerwood, Duane and Sherwin Keck; a sister, Esther Teegarden; his father-in-law, Orville Ryan, and a brother-in-law, Donald "Pinky" Sanders.

Survivors include his wife, Karen of Knapp; one brother, Gilbert Keck of St. Paul, MN; two sisters, Doris (Eugene) Smith and Louise Sanders, both of Downing; his mother-in-law, Bernice Ryan of Minong; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Allen) Kerr of Wilson and Sonya Keck of Menomonie; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, May 8, 2003, at the Wilson Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jeff Driscoll officiating. Special music was provided by Carole Lynum, organist, and Joe Menter, vocalist. Burial was in Wilson Lutheran Cemetery with military honors provided by Matson-Miller American Legion Post 330 of Wilson.

Honorary bearers were Jim Reich, Mick Keck and Tom Teegarden. Pallbearers were Kevin Kerr, Kory Kerr, Kelly Kerr, Keith Kerr, Dean Sanders and Jeff Sanders.

Keehr Funeral Home in Spring Valley handled arrangements.
