Maj. Edward Burd was the son of Noted Col. James Burd and Sarah Plumley Shippen. Col Burd was a major player in the Provincial Army, he was in charge of having numerous forts built and a great deal of service during the french and Indians Wars, Fort Burd in Redstone, Pa. was named after him.
Edward also served in the war but after being captured and released he went into Politics and was a very prominent lawyer thoughout his life.
