| Birth: | 1821 | | Death: | Oct. 4, 1901 |  Crimean War Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in Renfrewshire, Scotland, he served as a Private in the 19th Regiment a Foot, British Army. At Sevastopol, Crimea, on 13th April 1855, Private Evans volunteered to led a small party to repair an embrasure which was exposed near the enemy trench lines. Under heavy continuous enemy fire, he, with another Private, went into the battery where they carried out the necessary repairs. For gallantry in the face of the enemy, he was awarded the Victoria Cross. He died at the age of 80 in Edinburgh, Scotland. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
