he was the son of the late C.P. and Nellie (Shortridge) Hinchman. He was a graduate of Geneva High School. He
received his B.S. from Manchester College. He began his teaching career in 1938 in Hartford Township School near Linn Grove, for four year. He taught history, science and coached. He came to Winchester in the fall of 1942. He was assistant coach and also taught Physical education in all
of the Winchester schools. He help found the high school football and track program. In 1951 he began his career as principal of the Willard Elementary school for the next 35 years. Retiring in 1986, Mr. Hinchman dedicated a total of 48 years to education 43 years with the Winchester school system.
For over 40 years during the summer, he worked on road construction. He had also worked for Mershberger Stone Company in Berne. He was an avid sports fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the IU basketball team. He was a referee for High school and college basketball teams. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winchester where he served as Deacon and Elder. He was a member of the Winchester Masonic Lodge #56 F & AM for over 50 years.
He was a member of the Mizpah Shrine of Fort Wayne and Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne. He was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
