Edward M. Ovecka, 87, Lebanon, died Friday, July 1, 2005, at his home. He was the husband of Arlene E. Phillippy Ovecka. Born Feb. 2, 1918, in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Frank and Anna Ovecka. He was a retired employee of the former Bethlehem Steel Corp. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star and Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with one Bronze Star. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church and St. Paul's Over 50 Club in Annville, VFW and R Field & Stream. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son David M., husband of Janice Ovecka of Brandn, Vt.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter. Mass of Christian Burial Friday at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Annville. Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. [Lebanon Daily News]
