Nimrod Duncan enlisted in the army of the United States in the year 1779 in the state of Virginia and in Captain Mark Thomases Company in Major George Slaughters Corps raised for the western defense of Virginia by an act of assembly passed at Williamsburg the fifth day of November 1779 ... he continued to serve as a faithful soldier until he was regularly discharged on 21th December 1787 by Benjamin Roberts (Capt. of company) and which discharge has been in the possession of said Nimrod Duncan from the time it was given until this day... the said Nimrod Duncan resided in Fauquier County Virginia when he entered the service and march from thence to the Falls of Ohio which is now in Kentucky and where the City of Louisville is now situated...
PLEASE NOTE.
The info below is correct per my ancestry research. There are 2 Nimrod Duncans appearing in Kentucky in the early 1800s. It is important to differentiate between them both. This memorial is for the Nimrod Duncan married to Hannah Martin, not the one married to Lucy Browning. I have revised the birth info on this memorial which may have led to the confusion.

Per D. Franks Find A Grave ID #47794820:
On Nimrod's page is a photo posted by Lisa Ann Spence Peacock. It has some incorrect info on it. Nimrod Duncan who married Lucy Browning. Nimrod did not die in IL. He was b 1766 in Culpeper co VA. He died in 1825 Logan co KY; had a noncupative will there.
Also many trees on Ancestry list that a Nimrod Duncan married both Hannah Martin & Lucy Browning. There were 2 Nimrod Duncan in KY at the same time.
The one who married Lucy was in Madison co KY 1800 & Logan co KY 1810-1820. Lucy was head of hhold in 1830, Logan co. All of his & Lucy's children moved to IL. Nimrod & Lucy were my grt grt grandparents.
The Nimrod Duncan who married Hannah was in Shelby co KY 1800-1840-some of their children moved to Indiana. I don't believe this Nimrod was born in 1766 Culpeper co VA. He was born about 1762 probably Fauquier co VA. He is the one who has a Rev War Pension file.
