|Death: ||Feb. 21, 1920|
Edwin C. Lee was born December 28, 1851 in Racine, Racine, Wisconsin (other sources state Albany, Green County, Wisconsin). His father, William Lee, was a tailor who had immigrated from England and married Caroline in New York where their first two children were born. The family then moved to Albany, Wisconsin where they had three more children—Edwin being the youngest.
The William Lee family moved to Decorah, Winneshiek County, Iowa, where Edwin met and married Josephine Brandt on September 27, 1873. On the census record, Edwin lists his occupation as "laborer."
Edwin and Josephine's first child died as an infant but they went on to have four more children—three of them born in Iowa and the youngest born in the Dakota Territory in 1884. By 1895, the family had returned to Decorah, Iowa, then moved to Minnesota, living first in Freeland, then Hammer, and settling in St. Cloud, where Edwin died of influenza at the age of 68.
Edwin was survived by his wife, Josephine, two daughters, Ada Shackleton of Canby, Minnesota, and Minnie Nygaard of St. Cloud; and two sons, George of Oxford, South Dakota, and Clarence of Aldrich, Minnesota.
Edwin is buried in the North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, Minnesota.
