Sarah Lucille Webster married at age 15. She soon had an infant son, Buddy Richard Webster, who died from whooping cough. Then she and her husband Urall "Dale" Webster had children Eural "Gene" Webster, Paul Duane "Butch" Webster, and Marilyn "Joyce" Webster.
Dale was arrested before Butch or Joyce were born, and put into jail in Macomb, IL for burglary. He broke out of jail in 1934, and then he assumed the alias "Dale Shumaker" and moved his family to Denver, Colorado, where Joyce was born. When he got a tip that police were closing in on him, he left the family and went to Vancouver, Canada and enlisted in the Canadian armed forces in World War II under the alias.
Lucille moved back to Macomb, IL. Soon Lucille was widowed, as her husband was blown up in a tank in Italy, and she raised the children with help from relatives, including her father, Thomas Huffaner Miller.
She later lived out her life with partner Kenneth Butcher, in Macomb, IL. She died relatively young of heart attacks; she was camping at a family site near Quincy and complained of chest pains, and was taken to the closest hospital in Carthage, IL, where she died a few days later.
Lucille was a brilliant woman who finished high school at age 15. She was from a very poor family, and had one dress to wear through high school, and no money for higher education. She worked in factories as a young mother, including an Iowa ammunitions center making bombs during the war, and also Haeger pottery. She later assumed the role of housewife for Kenny.
Lucille was a beautiful woman and her life revolved around her family -- her brother Howard and her children. She loved African violets, Camel cigarettes, and endless cups of coffee. She was a loving grandmother and is greatly missed all these years later.
