Inez was born Maud J. 'Inez' Herrin, daughter of Samuel Mcfarland Herrin and Mary A.E.(Cochran) Herrin. She was married to Hazzie Lenderman. That marriage resulted in the birth of Gladys Arbell Lenderman, who later was sexually acosted by a boy by the name of Murl Lewis. He was a local boy around Fawil who had taken a liking to Gladys and sneaked into her bedroom window one night after everyone had gone to sleep. When the Herrin adults in the area found out what happened, it did not take long for the Lewis family to move 'seemingly overnight' to Sabine County. The result of the sexual encounter offspring was a son, James 'Jim' Lewis. Gladys later married Wallace Benjamin Herrin. Gladys and Wallace had no children in their marriage but Jim Lewis grew up to become one on the finest finish carpenter/cabinet makers in the Newton/Jasper County area.
