GARDEN CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME

Daniel E. Dieleman was born September 26, 1915, to Daniel D. and Hattie (Roorda) Dieleman in rural Marion County. When Dan was only four years old, his mother passed away in childbirth. Dan was then raised by his step-mother Lena (Van Baale) Dieleman. Dan attended Davis Country School until eighth grade.

Dan was united in marriage with Marie Vander Leest on Feb 26, 1941, in Pella. To this union four children were born.

Dan and Marie farmed for many years until Dan had the opportunity to follow his dreams of opening a restaurant. In 1963 he purchased the Central Park Café in Pella. Dan continued to follow his adventurous spirit which led him to owning a fabric shop, an insurance agency, and managing the Hilltop Manor in Pella. After retiring in 1981, Dan and Marie wintered in Arizona until deciding to live there year round. They returned to Pella in 2001, where they lived at Pella Manor. Dan was a charter member of Trinity Reformed Church in Pella.

Dan went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House at the age of ninety-five.

Dan will be missed by his wife of seventy years, Marie; his children and their families; a sibling and a sister-in-law.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother; his parents-in-law Richard and Maggie Vander Leest; his brothers Gerald Dieleman and Willis Dieleman; grandchildren Dana Marie Dieleman, Larry Dieleman, and Roger Dieleman; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Dan will be remember as a provider for his family, his willingness to try a new adventure, and his loving personality.
