Darline Newman, 78, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday June 20, 2013, at her home.

She was born May 5, 1935, in Rigby, to Earl Henry Killian and Sarah Jane Coles, the youngest of four brothers and one sister. She was raised in Poplar on the dry farms and attended elementary school there. She later moved with her parents to Milo and attended school in Rigby, graduating from Rigby High School in 1953.

On June 26, 1953, she married her eternal companion, DeLoy Newman in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple. They initially made their home in Milo, farming with DeLoy's father until 1958. They then moved to the Monteview area and raised hay, potatoes, and grain. Most any day, Darline could be found working in fields alongside her husband and children.

In 1972, Darline and DeLoy bought a ranch in the Salmon area and traveled numerous miles back and forth working both the farm in Monteview and the ranch in Salmon. In 1980, they moved to Salmon, leaving the farming in Monteview to their children.

Darline loved farm and ranch life. She joyously raised her five children and taught them many valuable lessons about life and hard work. She continued to work alongside her husband until he passed away in 1995. Darline ran the ranch several more years, finally selling it in 1998.

She then moved to Idaho Falls and enjoyed spending her winters in Arizona with her sister-in-law, June Killian.

Darline loved family gatherings and playing games with her family, grandchildren and many friends. She cherished the time attending parties with her Family Home Evening Group. She especially enjoyed flower arranging and sewing. She was always laughing and telling jokes. She loved sharing her knowledge of home health, medicinal herbs, and the new things she had learned.

Darline was a devout and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions within the church. She loved teaching the little ones and often said that was what she wanted to do in Heaven. She lived a full and happy life and will be missed in the hearts of many who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her five children; Shery O'Sullivan of Monteview, Ross (Sheron) Newman of Monteview, Cindy (James) Chance of Salmon, Scott (Melanie) Newman of Monteview, Kris Weeks (John Spivey) of Tetonia, 23 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at the Taylor Mountain Stake Center 260 Castlerock Lane, Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel 101 W. Main Street, and Wednesday, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
