Mary Boddy was the daughter of Isaac Kitchel, well known Windsor chair maker. She is a descendant of Robert Kitchell and is listed in the Kitchell Family History. She married John Boddy on 21 Oct 1807 in NYC. The spelling Ketchel was often used for Mary.She lived at 219 Church Street in New York City and had three children-Philip, Andrew, and Waitman, known as W. S. Bodey, the discoverer of gold in what would become the famous ghost town of Bodie, CA., which was named after him.
She lived at 32 Norfolk Street in Newark, NJ. Mary left a will giving half her estate to Ogden E. Boddy, son of her son Waitman S. Boddy, and half to the daughters of her son Andrew. In the list of her belongings was "one old cat" worth 75 cents. Mary died of "old age.". She was buried on March 9, 1866.
