William S.(G) Ross Dies in Florida

Spanish-American War Veteran Was Former Resident of Ridgway.

Word was received here this morning by William S. Ross, of Grove Avenue of the death of his son William G. Ross, age 59, Spanish-American War Veteran, at West Palm Beach, Florida.

Mr. Ross was a former well known Ridgway resident and served with Company H, 16th Regiment of Pennsylvania volunteers at Porto Rico in 1898.

He is surviced by his father; one sister, Mrs. A. C. Weis, and one brother, P. C. Ross, of Buffalo, N. Y.

Burial will be made in West Palm Beach.

William G. Ross

A West Palm Beach, Florida, newspaper, has the following to say concerning William G. Ross, formerly of Ridgway, son of W. S. Ross and brother of Mrs. A.C. Weis of this place, who passed away on July 12th, at West Palm Beach:

"William 'Bill' G. Ross, 54, pioneer resident of this city, died at his home on North Poinsettia avenue, last night at 7:15 o'clock following an illness of several weeks. He came here nearly 20 years ago from Ridgqay, Pa., and was prominent in social life of the city more than a decade ago."

"Mr. Ross will be remembered as the trombone player, taking hte solo parts on many occasions, in the city band under the direction of H. H. Curtis."

"Mr. Ross was a member of the Carpenters local and was a Spanish war veteran. He was unmarried."

"Funeral services were held on July 14, at the Ferguson chapel. Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery. Members of the Spanish war veterans of this city attended the funeral services as a unit."
