Hanahan police dog Shadow died Tuesday night during training.

He began his service with the department in 2008 and became a valuable and reliable asset for the department.


During his time of service, Shadow located numerous narcotics and made multiple non-bite Shadow apprehensions.

Shadow also obtained the most difficult of available certifications through the National Police Work Dog Association. He was certified in drug detection work, suspect tracking, searches and other areas.

His services were also utilized by surrounding agencies on multiple occasions.

McAlister-Smith Funeral Home in Goose Creek is donating their services for cremation. K-9 Shadow will have a memorial service this morning.
