OBITUARY:
LEONARD H. COX, age 82, of Dandridge, TN went home to be with Jesus Monday evening, June 17, 2013 following a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was a retired farmer of Jefferson County and was a member of the Green Hill Baptist Church. Leonard served in the U.S. Army and the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by father and mother, Howell Cox and Ida Rickard Cox; sisters, Mattie Jane Cox Russell and Margie B. Cox; brother, Wendell Cox; great granddaughter, Aleina Mae Phillips. Survived by his wife of 59 years, Alice Proffitt Cox; son, Wendell H. Cox; daughter, Aldena (Cox) Phillips and husband, Terry, Margie (Cox) Mills and husband, Ennis; son, Bart Cox and wife Melanie and Lee Cox and wife Martha; grandchildren, Daniel Phillips, Allison Phillips, Matthew Cox and Dusti Cox, Christen Chiles and Jake Chiles, Laura Mills, Andrea Dalton and Bryant Dalton, Aaron Mills, James Cox, and Savannah, Garren and Hayley Darling; great-grandchildren, Meleah, Brooke, Bry and Brantley; step-mother, Elizabeth Cox; sisters, Della (Cox) Haynes, Joan (Cox) Hubbard, Faye (Cox) Hartman and husband Max; brother, Ervin Cox; special nieces and nephews, James A. and Carrie McCown, Dwinita and Steve Loveday, Debbie and Clifford Wyrick, Ida Bell and Steve Fuller, Gaye and Willis Large, and Joel and Jesse Loveday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, 223 Rosa Parks Ave., Suite 301, Nashville, TN 37203. Funeral services, Thursday, June 20, 2013, 7:00pm at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Len McElyea officiating. Interment graveside services, Friday, 11:00am at the Cox Family Cemetery. Family will receive friends Thursday evening, 5:00 to 7:00pm prior to services at FARRAR FUNERAL HOME, DANDRIDGE.
