THOMPSONTOWN - Anna S. Long, 93, of Locust Grove Retirement Village, HC-67, Mifflin, and formerly of R.R.#2, Thompsontown, passed into eternal life on Sunday, February 13, 2005 at the village.
Born on February 1, 1912 in Fayette Twp., Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Ira J. and Mary (Stuck) Shelley. Her husband, Wilbur J. Long, whom she married on September 3, 1934, preceded her in death on November 10, 1965.
She is survived by 1 daughter, Mary Ann Lukens and her husband, Norman of R.R.#2, Thompsontown; 1 daughter-in-law, Carol Keeler of East Salem; 4 sisters, Kethurah Brubaker of East Salem, Ruth Alexander of Brookline Retirement Village, R.R.#1, Mifflintown, Lulu Daughenbaugh of Towsend, GA, and Geraldine Leach of Mifflin; and 1 sister-in-law, Fay Shelley of R.R.#2, McAlisterville. She was preceded in death by 1 son, Russell W. Long; 4 sisters, Hazel Spece, Mabel Strawser, Sara Benner, and Esther Moore; and 1 brother, Paul Shelley.
She was a seamstress for 11 years at Lyons Fashions, McAlisterville until her retirement in 1977 and was a homemaker.
She was a member of the East Salem United Methodist Church, East Salem, who enjoyed reading and tending her garden.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 17, 2005 from the McAlisterville Chapel of Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 16 Westfall Street, McAlisterville, with Pastor Allen Hulslander officiating. Interment will follow in the East Salem Cemetery, East Salem. There will be no public viewing, however, friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday, at the funeral home.
