He was the son of Leonard and Mildred (Alderman) Longmire. Kent graduated Wittenberg Wisconsin High School in 1968 and entered in the Army in March of 1969. He served with the 101st Airborne Division. His Tour Of Duty began September 2, 1969 and he was killed in action on April 20, 1970 in Thau Thien. Sgt. Longmire's name appears on the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall on panel 11 W line 28. Sgt. Longmire is buried alongside his brother Mark Longmire who also served in Vietnam.
